Almost 7 years ago now (wow does time fly), I decided to resign from my job – a position I had loved and, yet, over time, had outgrown.  I felt terrified to listen to the little voice inside of me telling me to dream big, take the chance, follow my heart, and believe that I could do and be so much more than mediocre. I was so afraid and yet, the desire and motivation to simply try and see what happened was so much greater than the fear holding me back. So, I decided to be brave, take the risk, step out of my comfort zone…

I always wanted to start my own company and create a position for myself where I could solely focus on championing young girls and their parents, and creatively merge my two loves: academics and personal growth and development – and this is exactly what I did. I created Bold New Girls ™ so that I could place all my energy and passion into what I really believed in – the power and potential of young girls and those supporting them.

One little step each day, one day at a time, and client by client, I began my entrepreneurial journey and I have deeply loved every part of the adventure. I feel I am truly and whole-heartedly living out my purpose and using my skills and talents to support and grow young girls. I always longed to connect with others, be a change maker, and make a difference and this is exactly what I have the privilege of doing each and every day.

This very experience – listening to my inner voice and the decision to be a bold and confident trail blazer – became the very foundation and inspiration to write Growing Strong Girls. I knew I had read and research a lot on girlhood, I knew it was my greatest interests, giving me tremendous purpose and fulfillment, and I knew that I had enough experience journeying alongside girls to start to speak out about their concerns and struggles but also their successes and transformations! This little gem is filled with idea and activities to try, conversation starters, and quotations.

Later, I felt much more confident and ready to follow this book with my second book called, Rooted, Resilient, and Ready! I wanted to go deeper in my writing and the tougher topics of the teenage years and feature girls voices and pictures – so we could hear from girls about what it’s like to be a teen today and what they need most. I decided to end each chapter with a “how to help her growth” and “how not to hinder her growth” section. It is my hope that my books will reach girl supporters and champions everywhere so, together, we can raise and empower our girls.

Now, I can’t believe how far I have come as person, gaining in self-belief and wisdom. I can’t believe how far Bold New Girls ™has come – expanding our company to workshops, presentations, media contributions, and even a SHOP (most exciting of all to me!)

Somedays I can’t believe this is my life – this little dream inside of me that is now my reality. There are days when I feel I am doing enough and there are other days when  I feel I have so much more to give. This really ignites more passion inside of me: to be committed to my own personal growth, to continue to get to know girls and ask as many questions as I possibly can, and to keep learning…every single day!
